Frequently asked questions
General
Simtek designs and manufactures high-fidelity simulated avionics hardware for military and commercial training systems.
This includes:
• Control panels
• Multi-function displays (MFDs)
• Instruments and gauges
• Integrated cockpit solutions
We focus on OEM form, fit, and function replication—ensuring the training experience matches the real aircraft as closely as possible.
Simtek is based in Euless, Texas at 1505 Royal Parkway, Euless, Texas 76040, conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Our 29,000 sq. ft. facility houses everything under one roof—from design and engineering to machining, assembly, and production—allowing us to maintain full control over quality, schedule, and performance.
It depends on the application.
For commercial and non-military applications, Simtek can provide solutions and support a wide range of customers.
For military applications, Simtek does not sell directly to the general public. These programs are typically restricted and require coordination through approved contractors or government channels.
It’s also important to understand that Simtek products are not consumer or gaming-grade equipment. Our pricing reflects the design and manufacturing of high-end, OEM-replica hardware built for:
• Continuous, 24/7 training environments
• Long service life and durability
• High-fidelity performance
These are professional training devices, engineered to perform day in and day out—not hobby or entertainment units.
Simtek supports a wide range of platforms, including:
• Fighter jets (F-16, F-35, F-18)
• Mobility aircraft (C-130, KC-135)
• Helicopters (H-60 Black Hawk, CH-47, Bell 412, NH90)
• Commercial aircraft (Boeing and Airbus platforms)

Simtek products are built for high-fidelity training, replicating:
• Physical dimensions and mounting
• Switch feel and tactile response
• Display performance and layout
• Electrical interfaces and behavior
Our goal is simple: when a pilot touches it, it should feel real.
Simtek primarily provides hardware solutions.
We design our systems to integrate with your simulation software using standard interfaces such as:
• Ethernet / PoE
• USB
• Discrete I/O
• Serial communication (RS-232, etc.)
Benefits include:
• Reduced wiring complexity
• Faster installation
• Improved reliability
• Easier maintenance
Simtek is an industry leader in PoE-based avionics simulation hardware.
Absolutely. This is one of our core strengths.
We regularly:
• Reverse engineer legacy components
• Replace obsolete parts with modern equivalents
• Maintain original form, fit, and function
If it existed—we can build it.
No.
Simtek can work from:
• Photos
• Partial drawings
• Legacy hardware
• Verbal requirements
No SOW? No problem. Send a picture.
Yes. Our in-house capabilities allow us to quickly move from concept to prototype, including:
• CNC machining
• Electrical integration
• Assembly and finishing
This enables fast iteration and reduced program risk.
Yes. In addition to individual components, Simtek is expanding into:
• Modular cockpit structures
• Integrated simulator environments
• Mixed reality (MR) training systems
Our goal is to provide end-to-end training hardware solutions.
Simtek stands out because of:
• OEM-level fidelity without OEM cost
• Vertical integration (engineering, machining, assembly under one roof)
• Long-term support for legacy systems
• Rapid response to AOG (simulator downtime) situations
We don’t just build hardware—we build confidence in training.
Our products are designed for:
• Continuous training environments
• High-use, high-cycle operation
• Long service life
They are built to perform day in and day out—not just pass a demo.
We offer:
• Repair and refurbishment services
• Technical support
• Spare parts
• Rapid turnaround for critical issues
Simulator downtime is treated with the same urgency as AOG in aviation.
Simtek typically provides a 2-year warranty from shipment, covering:
• Defects in materials
• Workmanship
• Design issues
(Details may vary by program—refer to your quotation.)
Yes. Simtek supports:
• Low-rate initial production (LRIP)
• Full-rate production
• Fleet-wide deployments
We’ve delivered solutions used in over 40 countries worldwide.
Yes. ROM pricing is available for early-stage planning and budgeting.
Keep in mind:
• ROMs are non-binding estimates
• Final pricing depends on complete technical data and requirements
Typical lead times range from 3–6 months, depending on the scope and complexity of the program.
Delivery timelines are influenced by:
• System complexity
• Quantity
• Availability of technical data
• Customer review and approval cycles
Expedited options may be available based on program requirements.
